Tall case brass dial clock, ca. 1735-1748.

Mahogany tall-case clock. The hood has a molded raised sarcophagus top with three turned ball-and-spire finials on plinths, carved and pierced crest, carved blind fretwork in the frieze and tympanum, a molded arch above the door, turned columns with brass capitals and bases at the front corners, and a glazed door with an astragal top. Waist with cove molding at the top and a case door with an astragal top, a molded edge and a circular glazed peephole. Base with cove and ovolo moldings at the top, ogee molding at the bottom, a shaped skirt and supported on three turned ball feet. Composite brass dial with applied chapter ring with roman hour numerals and arabic minute numerals, applied cast ornament in the spandrels and lunette, and an applied dial indicating the age of the moon and a tide register in the lunette. Inside the chapter ring there is an applied seconds dial, a calendar aperture, and brass scrollwork ornament with birds, a banner bearing the inscription "Tempus Rerum Imperator," and the inscription "WM Stretch Philadelphia." Eight day movement.
